Strengthening Quality Assurance: LUMS Joins HEC’s 2026 Micro-Credential Program

LUMS’s participation in the pilot cohort of the Higher Education Governance and Quality Assurance Micro-Credential Program 2026 places the University among the first institutions engaging with this initiative, reflecting its continued focus on quality assurance. Ms. Mavra Mushtaq Ahmed from the Office of Programme Enhancement is representing LUMS in the program. The program is being conducted from August to October 2026, with the objective of strengthening governance and quality assurance practices in Pakistani higher education through PSG-2023.

Delivered through a blended learning format and a blended, context-sensitive methodology, the program brings together synchronous online masterclasses, asynchronous self-paced modules, and in-person collaborative workshops, complemented by case studies and applied exercises relevant to the Pakistani higher education context.

The program comprises three modules covering higher education governance and strategic planning, data-driven governance, and quality and quality culture. The modules explore the transition from person-centric to system-centric governance, the use of data and analysis to strengthen decision-making, and the application of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) to design, lead, and institutionalise quality improvement within an institutional context. The program brings together key speakers, including Dr. Susanna Karakhanyan, Mr. Agha M. Raza, Prof. Dr. Sohail Naqvi, and Dr. Wesley Teter, who are contributing through its different modules and sessions.

Through its focus on institutionalized governance, evidence-based decision-making, and continuous quality improvement, the program provides a structured framework for strengthening quality assurance practices across higher education institutions.
