Dr. Fazal Jawad Seyyed has been a faculty of finance at Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB), Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) since 2012. He has served as Director Accreditation at SDSB from 2013-2021. In 2019, SDSB achieved AACSB International accreditation, becoming the first business school in Pakistan to join the ranks of less than five percent leading business schools in the world. Prior to joining LUMS, Dr. Seyyed, was the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) at SAIB BNP Paribas Asset Management Company (an investment arm of The Saudi Investment Bank), Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He supervised the management of mutual funds and discretionary portfolios of the company, with assets under management of around USD 1.5 billion. He has over 40 years of university-level teaching experience at various institutions in the United States, Middle East, and Pakistan. Before moving to the investment banking sector, he was an associate professor of finance (1999-2004) at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Dhahran, where he led the accreditation efforts for the business school. In 2002, KFUPM business school became the first business school in Saudi Arabia to achieve AACSB International accreditation. 

Dr. Seyyed holds a PhD from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, USA. He is a member and charter holder of the CFA Institute, USA. His research work on the financial markets has appeared in several international journals, including The Financial Review, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, International Journal of Accounting and Finance, Research in International Business and Finance, and Managerial Finance. Most of his research work relates to emerging markets. His current focus is on agriculture as a catalyst for the economic growth and development of Pakistan. He is actively engaged in managing his family’s farm operations. In 2014, he spearheaded the effort to launch the Executive Certificate in Agribusiness Programme (ECAM) in collaboration with Nestle Pakistan. The programme was conducted at the Rausing Executive Development Centre (REDC), LUMS. He has also authored several case studies related to agribusiness and finance.
