Shaping the Future: Highlights from the HEC Progress Review Meeting at LUMS
In May 2024, the Office of Programme Enhancement (OPE) at LUMS had the honor of hosting the Higher Education Commission's (HEC) Progress Review Meeting and Consultative Workshop for Quality Enhancement Cells. This event convened quality assurance cells from both public and private universities to discuss the latest Quality Assurance Framework introduced by the HEC and the unique challenges universities may face in meeting these expectations. The framework is designed to drive continuous quality improvement through refined mechanisms, enabling institutions to excel and achieve top marks. The workshop aimed to equip participants with the necessary tools to elevate their performance and standards.
The event was a testament to LUMS’s commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement in higher education. Our meticulous planning ensured that the experience was both productive and seamless for all participants. Notably, LUMS took an additional step by engaging student representatives, integrating their perspectives into the quality assurance process. This inclusion underscored the crucial role that students play as key stakeholders in evaluating and enhancing program quality.
As we move forward, the knowledge and feedback gained from this event will be instrumental in enhancing our quality assurance processes. The insights gained by engaging with the Quality Assurance Agency at HEC, the quality enhancement cells from other universities, and the student representatives ultimately contribute to the ongoing advancement of higher education standards across the region.
